Hazel is a bushy and vigorous native deciduous hedging plant. It is particularly useful when used in mixed hedging or as a country style hedge. It produces edible nuts in autumn and ornamental yellow catkins in spring. The foliage is medium green and slightly furry, turning rich copper in autumn.
It will grow happily in any well drained soil and tolerates both chalk and acidic conditions.
For best results hazel hedging should be planted 33cm apart at 3 plants per metre.
