Rosa rugosa is a variety of wild Japanese rose. It grows into a dense thorny deciduous hedge. It produces large, pink scented flowers. It will grow happily in any well drained soil and tolerates both sand and chalk conditions. For best results rose hedging should be planted at 3 plants per metre.
